> ## Agent Instructions
> SeedOps CLI browser login is the default for agents. Use --limit 1–50 to retrieve only needed signals. Read /agent-setup/prompt.md for setup. Never request credentials in a prompt.

# Use the CLI

> Sign in through your browser and give your agent a simple command.

Requires Node.js 20 or newer. Works with agents that can execute shell commands.

```bash theme={null}
npm install --global https://www.seedops.co/downloads/seedops-cli-0.2.2.tgz
seedops login
```

Your browser opens SeedOps. Sign in, match the displayed code, and approve your device. No API key is required for browser login. Retrieving data uses your subscription’s monthly record allowance. The login code expires after ten minutes. CLI sessions last up to 30 days, with access tokens refreshed automatically.

```bash theme={null}
seedops whoami
seedops filters
seedops search --q hiring --days 30 --hiring-function engineering --limit 5
seedops signal 123
seedops company example-company
seedops usage
seedops logout
```

`seedops logout` revokes the server session and removes local credentials. You can also log out a device from [AI agents](https://app.seedops.co/agents).

Credentials stay in your private user configuration directory. On Unix, the directory uses mode 700 and the credential file uses mode 600. Keep credentials out of prompts, source control, and command arguments.

## Activity and company details

Search results include `activityUrl`, the destination used by **View details** in the app. Missing links are `null`.

```bash theme={null}
seedops signal 4668302 --pretty
seedops company wonde --pretty
seedops search --company-slug wonde --limit 5 --pretty
```

`seedops signal <id>` returns the full title, date, category, evidence, activity URL, publication and update timestamps, author details, funding details when available, and a `company` profile with its description, tagline, logo, location, headcount, industry, founded year, and LinkedIn URL.

`seedops company <slug>` returns the latest company profile, `linkedinUrl`, `signalCount`, `latestSignalDate`, and `updatedAt`. Retrieve its activities with `seedops search --company-slug <slug>` and the same filters, limits, and pagination used for other searches.

A signal detail counts as one activity; its embedded company fields add no extra charge. A company detail counts as one company. Search usage counts only the activities actually returned. The installed CLI receives these fields automatically; no reinstall is needed.

## Advanced search

```bash theme={null}
seedops search --filters '{"searchGroups":{"op":"and","groups":[{"scope":"company","match":"and","terms":["hiring","funding"],"exclude":[]}]},"days":"30"}'
```

Use `seedops --help` for all filters. Both kebab-case and API camelCase names work. Translate natural-language requests into literal terms and structured filters.

Each command returns JSON. Errors go to stderr with a nonzero exit code. Set `--limit 5` to request five signals (1–50 supported, default 50). Only returned signals count toward usage. A search returns `items` and `nextCursor`; repeat the filters with `--cursor` to retrieve another page. No extra pages are fetched automatically.

## Separate API-key access

For unattended integrations, configure `SEEDOPS_API_KEY` and explicitly add `--api`:

```bash theme={null}
seedops search --api --q hiring
seedops usage --api
```

Browser-login requests and API-key requests use separate authentication, usage totals, and dashboards. Web, CLI, and API usage appear on the Usage page. CLI data uses your subscription allowance; API keys use separately purchased prepaid credits. Security rate protection remains enabled.
