# Search and advanced filters

> Use the same structured search engine as the SeedOps Activities UI.

Combine keyword, company, location, industry, size, category, date, hiring, and funding filters.
Retrieve valid categories, industries, hiring labels and funding stages using `GET /api/v1/filter-options`.
Search matches literal text in activity titles; it is not semantic or AI-generated search.

## Advanced groups

Each group can match terms in one activity (`activity`) or in different activities belonging to the same company (`company`).
Combine terms and groups using `and` or `or`. Exclusions work within the selected scope.
There are at most four groups and 30 combined search terms. Company-scoped qualification returns matching activities as evidence.

```json theme={null}
{
  "op": "and",
  "groups": [
    { "scope": "company", "match": "and", "terms": ["hiring", "funding"], "exclude": [] }
  ]
}
```

Pass this JSON as the URL-encoded `searchGroups` parameter. `locations` and `industries` are also JSON values.
Other list parameters, including `category`, hiring selections, and company selections, are comma-separated.
The CLI accepts typed objects and arrays through its `--filters` JSON argument.

```bash theme={null}
curl --get 'https://app.seedops.co/api/v1/signals' \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $SEEDOPS_API_KEY" \
  --data-urlencode 'searchGroups={"op":"and","groups":[{"scope":"company","match":"and","terms":["hiring","funding"],"exclude":[]}]}' \
  --data-urlencode 'days=30'
```

## Counting and pagination

Set `limit=1` through `limit=50` to choose a result size. The default is 50. Only returned items count as consumed data, including when fewer than the requested limit match.

Use `countOnly=true` to receive `data.total`. This returns no activity records but counts a successful data request.
Pagination cursors are tied to the filters: repeat all filters when requesting the next page.
Unknown or repeated query parameters are rejected. See the API reference for every supported parameter.

## Dates and funding

Explicit date boundaries use `YYYY-MM-DD`. The earliest supported activity date is 2026-08-30.
Use `fundingCurrency` with `fundingMin` and `fundingMax` to constrain published funding amounts.
Company-wide term groups and hiring/funding classification filters have distinct semantics: classification filters describe a matching activity, not an inferred company state.
