> ## Agent Instructions
> SeedOps CLI browser login is the default for agents. Use --limit 1–50 to retrieve only needed signals. Read /agent-setup/prompt.md for setup. Never request credentials in a prompt.

# Your first API request

> Authenticate with a SeedOps API key.

Create a key at [API keys](https://app.seedops.co/api). Copy it when it is created: the full key is shown once.
Store it in your environment as `SEEDOPS_API_KEY`. Keep it out of browser code, URLs, source control, and prompts.

```bash theme={null}
curl --get 'https://app.seedops.co/api/v1/signals' \
  --data-urlencode 'days=30' \
  --data-urlencode 'limit=5' \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $SEEDOPS_API_KEY"
```

Results are wrapped in `data`. Searches return `data.items` and `data.nextCursor`, with up to 50 activities per page. Set `limit=1` through `limit=50` to choose a smaller result size; usage counts actual returned items.
To fetch the next page, send `cursor` with exactly the same filters.

For valid filter values, call `GET /api/v1/filter-options`. Read [search filters](/guides/search) before building complex queries.

Browser login cookies do not authenticate REST API requests. Expired, revoked, deleted, or missing keys are rejected.
